A child born to fulfill an ancient Egyptian prophecy... The Council seeks to destroy her. The Elders wish to save her. And one man is sworn to protect her. Auriyanna Delmar has always been a part of a world that she never knew existed. The normal life she tries to live as a dancer in New York City is often anything but. At odds with her surroundings, Auriyanna's dreams seem more real than her life ever has. After moving on from a childhood plagued with her father's drunken fits of rage, she hopes for a better life in the big city, far from her past. But something was wrong. As she attempts to fulfill her dreams and aspirations, her past follows dangerously close behind her... Auriyanna never understood who or what she truly was until she met Damion Villarreal. Inexplicably drawn to Damion, she can no longer fight to keep the veil between her past and her present closed-and the harder she tries, the more immersed in her past she becomes. If she is indeed the key to Damion's salvation and that of his kind, then only she can save them from the monsters they proclaim themselves to be. Some want nothing more than the bloodlust to end-for Sekhmet's curse to come to an end-but not all of them want peace... Take a journey from the streets of New York to the great pyramids of Egypt to the forests of British Columbia to find the answers Auriyanna seeks-follow her on her perilous journey through the world of the living and that of the living dead. Is she their salvation? And if she is, is she strong enough to survive? BOOK TRAILER www.CynthiaLee.org

So, I read a LOT of books.Although I have never been officially tested (I don't know if they even have a test!) I am pretty sure that I fall somewhere into the realm of a speed reader.
However, something strange happens with some books. It seems like I read slower. Almost as if it's the equivalent of fine wine, or gourmet food. It is completely sub-conscious on my end, but I do notice it happens every great once in awhile.
THIS is a book that made it happen.
The prologue sucks you in and you never truly escape. I know I will be thinking about Auriyanna, Damion, Nala and Daniel forever, and can't wait until the next book comes out.
No, seriously, it needs to come out now.
This is a story about vampires, but it is unlike any vampire story I have ever read before.
In "Eternal Rising" we learn about Auriyanna. She is half vampire and half human. Her vampire mother left when Auriyanna was very young, to protect her from those who would harm her.
Her human father remarries but never gets over Auriyanna's mother leaving them and turns into a drunken, angry shell of his former self.
Auriyanna learns that her father is keeping a huge secret from her. He refuses to tell her anything even after she was attacked in her own home by...something. Even more strangely a man saves her.
Fed up she leaves shortly before her 18th birthday.
With a strangely bottomless checking account she travels the world and becomes the dancer she always dreamed of being. It doesn't matter how hard she tries, she just can't get rid of her past. It is like a boulder that follows her around.
Finally the breathtakingly handsome man who saved her years ago reappears. His name is Damion and it is with him that she begins to learn what she is, and how much the fate of the world rests on her shoulders.....
Did I mention I loved it?! The ending literally has you on pins and needles. I am sure I will re-read this book a few more times before the next one comes out just to get my *fix*.
Highly recommend, five stars!

Eternal Rising Vol 1 Auriyanna Delmar Link of Souls Cynthia Lee 9780988995505 Books Reviews
Eternal Rising was AMAZING! Such a great book! Not like all the other vampire stories out there. So much going on in just one book! As soon as I received it in the mail, I had to start reading! Can't wait to see what is in store for Auriyanna next!
Absolutely amazing book. I read it in two days, just could not put it down. I can't wait to keep reading more about Auriyanna )
Eternal Rising - Buy the book. One caveat - make sure that you have all of your housework/homework and anything else done that needs doing before you start reading it, because once you start you won't stop. I read the book in less than a week (okay, so I might have gotten carried away, but Auriyanna is quite an engaging character, not to mention.... well, I won't mention...) You are sure to love it!!
I really did enjoy the plot, and will continue to read the following books in the future. I did find it a bit oddly written, a lot of repition and people being in their head too much, but still think it is worth the read.
I started reading Eternal Rising on Sunday afternoon and finished it on Friday. It would have been even sooner if I didn't have to go to work. I just couldn't put this book down! It's a mesmerizing story, and I didn't think that I would enjoy it as much as I did. I don't know much about Egyptian Mythology. To be quite honest, I have never been a fan of vampire books like Twilight or anything like that. This book was very different and nothing at all like that. The more I read, the more I wanted to know as I became immersed in the story. Cynthia Lee made the characters come to life, and I felt like I went on this great adventure with them. I can't wait for the second book to come out!
This is the best book I've read in a really long time. I spend hours upon hours perusing the vampire and paranormal novels at Barnes and Noble and every time I walk out empty-handed because nothing appeals to me or they're all the same cliche story line. But THIS. THIS right here isn't like the others I've seen, or even read for that matter. I highly recommend this book to everyone I know. Even if you've never really been interested in vampires, Eternal Rising will have you "convert to the dark side." Why join the dark side? We have sexy vampire men such as Damien Villarreal and witty women like Auriyanna Delmar. What's not to love? 5/5 stars, or fangs as you will, and am eagerly awaiting the second installment.
I generally read David Baldacci, Brad Thor, John Sandford and Randy Wayne White. I read the genres in which I write. But, friends referred me to another author, who I had not read. They spoke of Cynthia Lee with high accolades. My copy of her book,Eternal Rising, arrived from recently. It is difficult to put down, though vampire and supernatural romances are new to me. The characters Auriyanna and Damion are well drawn and captivating. The story is beautifully crafted as it literally flies through time and space. The exotic locales are described such that you feel you are there. It is a very well-written book that I highly recommend.
So, esteemed authors above, slide a bit to the side. Cynthia Lee needs some room to perch with you upon my Pedestal of Favorites!
